Environmental Restoration And Conservation Agency (ERCA)

Overview

The Environmental Restoration and Conservation Agency (ERCA) is a semi-governmental organization in Japan operating under the supervision of the Ministry of the Environment. Established to address environmental challenges, ERCA works to restore ecosystems, control pollution, and promote sustainable environmental management both domestically and internationally. The agency supports a wide range of programs, including funding mechanisms, research, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at protecting biodiversity, mitigating climate change, and improving environmental quality. One of its key programs is the Japan Fund for Global Environment (JFGE), which provides grants to NGOs and NPOs engaged in environmental conservation projects in Japan and developing countries. Through these activities, ERCA plays a vital role in implementing Japan’s environmental policies and contributing to global sustainability efforts.
