Elena Ferreras - a sociologist and gender expert who has worked extensively on a wide range of topics, such as; gender equality, the sustainable development agenda, gender-based violence, equal opportunities and economic empowerment, diversity, inter-sectionality, and approaches to masculinities. After a broad career within international organisations, she decided to work as a consultant in order to have more freedom and time, as well as developing as a small entrepreneur.
During her career as a gender specialist, she has been designing and leading programmes to mainstream gender and diversity into operations and policies in challenging contexts and post-conflict countries. She developed strategic thinking and provided recommendations for institutional mainstreaming as well as policy dialogue on gender equality, and sustainability and inclusion for different organisations and companies. Finally, Elena has developed cultural pertinence sensitivity, acquired by living and working in several countries within Africa, Middle East, Asia, South America and Europe and by doing so, has learned to multitask and be an inventive mum to two teenagers.
