Basmeh and Zeitooneh

Overview

Basmeh & Zeitooneh is a Lebanese-registered organization which began as a volunteer initiative by Syrian expatriates in 2012 responding to the growing needs of refugees in Lebanon. The organization works to provide accessible support to the most vulnerable Syrian refugees in Lebanon, as well as vulnerable members of the host population. The organization operates through a holistic approach that works with all members of the community by addressing multiple needs of the whole family and community as opposed to providing one-off services to individuals. While initially focusing on short-term emergency relief, it now implements an extensive range of programs that are entire needs-led and aim to allow refugees to move beyond a state of victimhood and dependence and to empower them.
