Cordaid
Overview
- Cordaid is the Dutch Catholic Organization for Relief and Development Aid. They aim at a just and sustainable world for everybody. Cordaid are an innovative, entrepreneurial and professional not-for-profit organization aiming at maximizing the social impact of their work in fragile and conflict affected areas.
- Cordaid dealt with victims of the Great Depression. After the Second World War the focus shifted further to the south. This led to a new form of solidarity between the countries in a field where Cordaid was at the forefront development cooperation.
- Cordaid provides humanitarian assistance to people who are affected by disasters, with special attention for the most vulnerable. First they take care of the most urgent needs and then work with the community on reconstruction and the management of possible future disasters. It links acute emergency aid to structural development in the areas of health care, education, resilience and work and income.
