Interpeace

Overview

Interpeace is an international peacebuilding organization headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. Established in 1994 as the War-torn Societies Project under the United Nations, it became an independent entity in 2000. With over 30 years of experience, Interpeace has worked across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and Latin America to prevent violence and build lasting peace. The organization's approach emphasizes strengthening the capacities of societies to manage conflict non-violently and non-coercively, ensuring that solutions are locally designed and led—from grassroots communities to senior decision-making levels. Interpeace collaborates closely with national actors to develop social and political cohesion and assists the international community, particularly the United Nations, in supporting effective peacebuilding efforts. In recognition of its work, Interpeace was granted international organization status by the Swiss Federal Council in 2017.
