IFEX

Overview

IFEX, the International Freedom of Expression Exchange, is a global network of over 100 civil society organizations spanning more than 70 countries, all united in their mission to defend and promote freedom of expression as a fundamental human right. Established in 1992 in Montreal, Canada, IFEX was initiated by a coalition of 12 non-governmental organizations aiming to collaborate on addressing violations of free expression worldwide. Over the years, the network has expanded significantly, now encompassing a diverse array of members, including media workers, citizen journalists, activists, artists, and scholars, all committed to safeguarding free expression rights.
