Al Jaleel Charitable Society for Care and Community Rehabilitation
Overview
The Al Jaleel Charitable Society for Care and Community Rehabilitation is a Palestinian non-governmental organization based in the Jenin Refugee Camp in the West Bank. Originally founded in 1991 as the Local Rehabilitation Committee under the umbrella of UNRWA, the organization became a fully independent NGO in 2010. Its mission centers on improving the quality of life for individuals with disabilities and their families through inclusive, community-based services. Al Jaleel is committed to advancing human rights, particularly for children and persons with disabilities, and works to reduce social and economic barriers that hinder their full participation in society.
The organization operates within the framework of Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR), a strategy supported by the World Health Organization (WHO), which aims to enhance the lives of people with disabilities through collaborative efforts involving individuals, families, and local communities. Al Jaleel places strong emphasis on equality, non-discrimination, transparency, and teamwork, striving to build a socially just environment that respects the dignity and rights of all individuals, regardless of physical or social limitations.
