Schwab Foundation
Overview
The Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship is a Swiss not-for-profit organization established in 1998 by Hilde and Klaus Schwab. Based in Cologny-Geneva, Switzerland, its mission is to advance social entrepreneurship as a means to drive societal innovation and progress. The Foundation operates independently under the supervision of the Swiss Federal Government.
The Foundation serves as a global platform that identifies and supports social entrepreneurs who create innovative solutions to social and environmental challenges. It annually recognizes 20-25 outstanding social entrepreneurs through its "Social Entrepreneur of the Year" competition, connecting them to a community of over 400 innovators. Key activities include community building, partnerships with academic institutions and corporations, and integration with the World Economic Forum, which enhances the visibility and influence of social entrepreneurs. The Foundation also provides educational scholarships, executive training, and publishes case studies to inspire future leaders in social entrepreneurship
