Tamara Tamimi
About
Political economy analyst and researcher with over a decade of experience supporting governance, development, and policy reform initiatives in Palestine and across the Arab region. I specialise in political economy and conflict analysis, policy-oriented research, and organisational development, helping international organisations, donors, and civil society actors navigate complex political and institutional environments.
I currently serve as Political Economy and Conflict Analysis Lead for the FCDO-funded Isnad programme, where I lead the design and delivery of political economy analysis to inform public financial management and governance programming. Previously, I worked as a Senior Political Economy Analyst on the FCDO-funded Takamol programme, contributing to analytical work on governance and public finance reform and supporting evidence-based programme design.
In parallel, I have undertaken consultancy assignments with regional and international organisations including but not limited to UNDP, UN Women, Alinea International, Tetra Tech, and FHI 360 UK, and a range of regional and national civil society organisations. My work has included leading political economy and sectoral analyses, conducting governance and conflict-sensitive research, advising on policy and programme design, and integrating gender equality and social inclusion into research frameworks and development programming.
My thematic expertise spans international law and human rights, gender equality, the women, peace and security agenda, right to education, environmental justice, social inclusion, governance, public finance, and cultural heritage. I also support organisations in strengthening internal capacity through strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, fundraising strategy, advocacy planning, and research development.
Alongside my consultancy work, I am pursuing a PhD in Law at Queen’s University Belfast, focusing on justice for Palestinians through international law. I hold an MA in Human Rights Law from SOAS, University of London as a Chevening Scholar, where I received the Sarah Spells Prize for best dissertation in the 2015–2016 academic year.
Fluent in Arabic and English, I combine rigorous research design with deep contextual knowledge of political, institutional, and socio-economic dynamics in Palestine and the wider Arab region.
