Turquoise Mountain

Overview

Turquoise Mountain was established in 2006 by HRH The Prince Of Wales. In blending the revitalization of heritage buildings with education and enterprise, Turquoise Mountain has created sustainable heritage regeneration that is linked to the revival of traditional artisan industries. Turquoise Mountain now works in Afghanistan, Myanmar, Saudi Arabia and Jordan and has, over the last 15 years, restored over 150 historic buildings worldwide, employed and trained thousands of artisans and builders, built over 50 small businesses, and supported over $17 million in sales of traditional crafts to international markets. In Jordan, Turquoise Mountain works to protect heritage and communities at risk, provide training in traditional crafts and business skills, generate employment opportunities, conduct heritage education classes for children, and support local artisans. Turquoise Mountain’s HQ and training facility in Jordan is in Jubeiha, Amman. They also have a showroom of artisanal products and a jewellery training and production workshop in Jabal Amman, as well as a building conservation and economic regeneration project at the Archeological Site of Umm Qais.
