GRoupement des Educateurs sans Frontieres
Overview
Founded in 1990, the Group of Educators without Borders (GREF) has been working in favor of development for 30 years now in Eastern Europe, in the countries of the South, Haiti, New Caledonia. It is also mobilized in France in various actions: Education for Citizenship and International Solidarity (ECSI) in schools and places welcoming young people, literacy, learning French as a foreign language and language of integration with refugees, migrants.
The association, secular and committed to the principle of non-substitution , currently brings together nearly 200 members (two thirds of whom are women), all volunteers, divided into 15 regional delegations. Initially mainly made up of retirees from National Education and activists in educational movements, the GREF today welcomes professionals from other sectors, retired or not, to diversify its skills and professionalize its operation. The association also strives to create intergenerational links with students or training schools and to support their projects in the field of solidarity and citizenship.
