The Arab Land Initiative
Overview
The Arab Land Initiative is a regional program established in 2016, led by UN-Habitat and coordinated by the Global Land Tool Network (GLTN), with support from the World Bank. It was created to address critical land governance challenges across the 22 member countries of the Arab League. The Initiative aims to promote equitable access to land, strengthen tenure security, and contribute to sustainable development, peacebuilding, and climate resilience in the Arab region.
At its core, the Initiative brings together a wide network of stakeholders, including national governments, land professionals, academic institutions, civil society organizations, private sector entities, and international development agencies. This collaborative approach supports policy development, capacity building, research, and practical solutions to enhance land management and governance in the region.
