The Association of African Universities (AAU)

Overview

The Association of African Universities (AAU) is a continental organization established in 1967 to promote cooperation and collaboration among African higher education institutions. Headquartered in Accra, Ghana, the AAU serves as the apex body and principal forum for higher education in Africa, representing universities and research institutions across the continent. Its primary mission is to enhance the quality, relevance, and accessibility of higher education in Africa through advocacy, capacity building, policy support, and the promotion of academic standards.
