Arab Watch Coalition
Overview
The Arab Watch Coalition (AWC) is a regional alliance of civil society organizations spanning the Middle East and North Africa, founded in April 2018 by 23 representatives from six countries (Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, and Yemen). Its primary mission is to monitor, engage with, and influence the practices of International Financial Institutions (IFIs) such as the IMF, World Bank, IFC, and AfDB operating in the region, ensuring that development initiatives are inclusive, participatory, just, and sustainable. AWC works directly with local communities, rights‑holders, and broader civil society to amplify their voices, enhance transparency, and hold IFIs accountable—through engagement, advocacy, capacity‑building, information dissemination, and expanding access to complaint and redress mechanisms.
