The International Olympic Committee (IOC)

Overview

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that oversees the Olympic Games and promotes the values of Olympism worldwide. It selects host cities, supervises the delivery of the Summer and Winter Games, and supports athletes through funding, training, and protection programs. Beyond the Games, the IOC works with National Olympic Committees and sports federations to advance gender equality, inclusion, sustainability, and youth engagement in sport. It also manages broadcasting and sponsorship rights, reinvesting revenues into global sports development and humanitarian initiatives, including refugee support and peace-building through sport.
