St. Yves Foundation – Catholic Center for Human Rights
Overview
The St. Yves Foundation – Catholic Center for Human Rights is a Catholic human rights organization under the auspices of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem. It was founded in 1991 by His Beatitude Patriarch Michel Sabbah, former Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem and the Holy Land, with the aim of assisting the poor and deprived in accordance with the social doctrine of the Catholic Church.
The Foundation provides free legal aid, consultation, and legal advocacy to all segments of society without discrimination. Throughout its years of continuous work, the Foundation has been able to draw the attention of broad international audiences to the difficult situation of the poor and marginalized in the Holy Land as a result of the policies of the Israeli occupation authorities. This is achieved through its work as a pressure and advocacy group at both the local and international levels.
