Cites Unies France (CUF)
Overview
Cités Unies France (CUF) is a French association created in 1975 that brings together local and regional authorities to strengthen their international action through decentralized cooperation. It serves as a platform for French municipalities, regions, and departments to coordinate and develop partnerships with counterparts worldwide, including in the MENA region. CUF supports its members by helping them design strategies, build and finance projects, and engage in thematic initiatives such as local governance, climate resilience, water and sanitation, and crisis recovery. It also mobilizes solidarity funds in response to emergencies, co-finances initiatives, and directly implements projects in collaboration with local partners, for example in municipal service delivery and post-crisis reconstruction. Through these efforts, CUF promotes democratic governance, sustainable development, and international solidarity between local authorities.
