In Morocco's Beni Mellal-Khénifra region, the AICHA project is making significant strides in combating gender-based violence (GBV) and early marriage. Implemented by AIDOS, this initiative focuses on empowering local communities to address these pressing issues.
Recent research under the AICHA project revealed concerning statistics: 11.2% of child marriages occur in this region, and the dropout rate for girls after primary school is 7.53%. These figures highlight the urgent need for targeted interventions to support young girls and women.
The project has trained 80 educators and 15 young activists, reaching over 3,500 individuals through awareness campaigns. Additionally, 75 survivors of GBV have accessed integrated support services, and 40 local authorities have been engaged in these efforts.
By focusing on prevention, education, and support, the AICHA project plays a pivotal role in addressing gender-based violence and early marriage in Morocco, contributing to a more equitable society.
