The European Union has launched a campaign titled “Together for Peace: Advancing the Women, Peace and Security Agenda and the Fight Against Gender-Based Violence in Yemen”.

This campaign marks the 25th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 — which formally recognised the critical role of women in peace and security efforts worldwide. It underscores that lasting peace requires women’s inclusion and protection, especially against gender-based and digital violence.

It focuses on three core themes: participation, protection, and partnership. The campaign encourages Yemeni women and men to be involved in peacebuilding, safeguard women from harm (including online threats), and collaborate across communities and institutions.

One area of concern is increasing digital violence: as more Yemenis, especially women, engage online to drive change, they also face cyber-bullying, disinformation and online intimidation — challenges the campaign aims to address. By spotlighting real-life stories and testimonials of Yemeni women and men from media, law, civil society and community leadership, the campaign aims to raise awareness, open dialogue and strengthen solidarity for gender equality and inclusive peace.
