The Norwegian government has pledged an additional US$4.5 million (NOK 45 million) to support humanitarian aid in Sudan.
The funding will be channelled through two key United Nations funds: NOK 25 million will go to the Sudan Humanitarian Fund managed by United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), while another portion will support the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) for rapid response in the region.
The money is intended to provide critical support in areas hardest hit by conflict and deprivation, including food, water, shelter, health care, and protection services. Norwegian officials emphasise their commitment to ensuring aid reaches all civilians in need, whatever their location or affiliation.
This new contribution reinforces Norway’s long-term partnership with Sudan, bringing the country’s total humanitarian aid this year to over NOK 385 million (roughly US$38.5 million) in addition to development funding.
With this support, Norway aims to help vulnerable communities in Sudan survive urgent challenges and build resilience for the future.
