Deutsche Welle (DW) Akademie is tackling the flood of online disinformation in Yemen with a bold move. Their project, “Our Voice, Our Space! Media and Youth for a Peaceful Future in Yemen, reaches 20,000 young people. Backed by GIZ, the program pushes for more open, peaceful conversations in a country that’s lived with conflict for too long.

This isn’t just about fighting fake news. DW Akademie brings together
young journalists, content creators, fact-checkers, and activists. They’re getting real tools to spot hate speech, share solid information, and build online spaces where people actually talk to each other instead of tearing each other down.

At its core, the project wants young people to speak up about peace. With fresh training and digital platforms, Yemen’s youth can speak up, join public debates, and take part in shaping how their country talks about peace, conflict, and bringing communities together.

The focus is on 18- to 25-year-olds from Aden, Taiz, and Hadhramaut—plus media professionals working in journalism, digital rights, and freedom of expression. Everyone gets the support they need to launch their own awareness campaigns and help make Yemen’s online spaces safer and smarter.
