Movement On The Ground

Overview

Movement on the Ground is an international non-profit humanitarian organization that works to improve the lives of refugees and displaced people by creating safe, dignified, and community-driven environments. Founded in 2015 and based in the Netherlands, the organization focuses on transforming traditional humanitarian responses into empowering spaces where displaced people can heal, regain agency, and rebuild their lives. Its approach emphasizes participation, inclusion, and long-term resilience rather than short-term aid alone.

The organization provides a range of services including emergency humanitarian assistance, shelter and basic needs support, education and skills development, psychosocial support, and community-building activities. Through its “Camp to CampUs” concept, Movement on the Ground seeks to turn refugee camps and displacement settings into active, self-sustaining communities that promote belonging, learning, and economic opportunity. The organization operates in several countries, particularly in areas affected by conflict and forced migration, and works closely with local partners, volunteers, and displaced people themselves to design and implement its programs.
