Global Ghost Gear Initiative (GGGI)
Overview
GGGI is the world’s largest cross sectoral alliance committed to driving solutions to the problem of lost, abandoned and otherwise discarded fishing gear (ALDFG, more commonly known as “ghost gear”) worldwide. One of the GGGI’s main strengths lies in the diversity of its participants, including the fishing industry, private sector, academia, governments, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations. Every participant has a critical role to play to mitigate the effects of ghost gear locally, regionally and globally.
