Two Million Meals Served as Hunger Grows in Lebanon
Since the war and the conflict has been escalating months ago, the World Central Kitchen (WCK) has provided over 2 million meals throughout all areas of Lebanon, which continues to show the growth of the humanitarian crisis. In addition, WCK continues to serve more than 1.3 million people who have been displaced throughout Lebanon with large financial hardship as many families simply cannot afford basic food and daily necessities.
WCK currently operates 13 kitchens throughout all areas of Lebanon including southern Lebanon, where there is a continuing need for a substantial amount of assistance. WCK provides meals and basic necessities to families having lost their homes, jobs, or any way of generating income with hot meals, bread, water, and emergency food support.
WCK works with local communities to help purchase produce locally when able to and employ many displaced workers in our kitchens to provide food assistance as well as short-term jobs, helping communities during this extremely tough time.
Aid workers warn that rising food and fuel prices are making conditions even harder for families. Many people who once supported themselves through farming, small businesses, and skilled work now depend on humanitarian aid to meet their daily needs..
