Overview
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1894 by Pierre de Coubertin. Headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, the IOC serves as the supreme authority of the Olympic Movement, promoting Olympism and overseeing the organization of the Olympic Games. It works with over 200 National Olympic Committees and various international sports federations to ensure the Games occur every four years in different host cities.
