Christian Tohmé
About
I am a senior nonprofit, philanthropy and international cooperation professional with more than 30 years of experience across humanitarian organisations, foundations, public institutions and the private sector.
My expertise spans strategy, governance, organisational development, leadership, partnerships, positioning, resource mobilisation and impact. Throughout my career, I have led multidisciplinary teams, translated international vision into measurable strategies and coordinated work across countries and complex institutional environments.
My experience includes senior roles with Mission 21, FOUR PAWS, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Swiss Red Cross. At FOUR PAWS, I led a team of more than 40 across strategy, programmes, communications and fundraising.
At the ICRC, I managed a portfolio generating approximately half of private sector income and helped strengthen the organisation’s positioning within philanthropic networks. Earlier, at the Swiss Red Cross, I built the foundation fundraising desk from the ground up.
As a consultant, I support organisations in navigating strategic and organisational challenges, from governance, positioning and leadership alignment to partnerships, resource mobilisation, strategic foresight and impact.
I combine strategic perspective with practical implementation and bring a structured, collaborative and culturally sensitive approach. I hold a Master of Advanced Studies in Nonprofit Management and Law and work fluently in German, English and French.
