Yasmine El Hagry was inspired to help orphans while studying at the American University in Cairo. Her experience with student volunteering showed her how teamwork and care can change lives.

Following a short stint in advertising, El Hagry became part of the Sanad for Orphans team in 2009 when she was hired as its third employee and contributed significantly to the establishment of this national organization.

Sanad works on improving the living conditions of orphanages and supporting youths on their way to adulthood. The organization has developed the first official quality standards for orphanages in Egypt in order to guarantee children are taken care of appropriately.

One of the main tasks performed by Sanad is helping youth leave care homes after they reach age of eighteen. Not only does the organization provide aid, but it also teaches people life skills.

Many former orphans now work or volunteer with Sanad, and some even start their own businesses. Today, El Hagry remains focused on giving these young people a voice so they can lead and succeed in society.
