Recent conflicts have shown a terrifying new tactic: using water as a weapon. Earlier this year, attacks on water cleaning plants in the Persian Gulf aimed to cut off vital water for everyday people. This dangerous move proves how easily a society can be put in danger, especially in the Middle East where millions rely entirely on these plants to drink and live.

This is why water is now becoming one of the most important resources of our times. When the source of water is low, there is a huge impact on health, education, and employment which causes a lot of tensions between countries. Life becomes harder when this happens because women and children are the ones suffering the most.

To help fix this, The German development corporation are stepping in with hands-on support in vulnerable regions. They are helping countries like Iraq and Jordan fix leaky pipes to stop water loss, and assisting Namibia in turning wastewater back into safe drinking water. They also work with local governments to create fairer water rules, build small farm irrigation networks in countries like Mali and Kenya, and fund major projects like new desalination plants to make sure people have enough to drink.
