Al Amana

Overview

Al Amana Microfinance is a leading non-profit microfinance institution based in Morocco, established in 1997 and officially recognized by the Ministry of Finance in 2000. As one of the pioneers in Morocco’s microfinance sector, Al Amana plays a critical role in promoting financial inclusion and economic development across the country. It has supported over 1.9 million clients and disbursed more than 5.6 million loans—valued at nearly 49 billion Moroccan dirhams—by the end of 2023.

The organization’s mission is to contribute to social and economic progress by providing accessible and inclusive financial services tailored to low-income populations, especially in underserved rural and urban areas. Al Amana upholds values such as integrity, transparency, innovation, and client protection, positioning itself as a model of responsible and ethical microfinance in the region.

Al Amana offers a range of financial products including individual and group (solidarity) business loans, housing and auto loans, and micro-insurance options. These services are complemented by non-financial programs such as business training, financial literacy workshops, and marketing support to help clients build sustainable livelihoods. Women and rural communities are key beneficiaries of these programs, with nearly half of the loans reaching rural areas and a significant portion directed to women-led initiatives.
