Reem Alsalem

Reem Alsalem is an independent consultant working in the areas of humanitarian response, forced displacement, and early recovery. She has extensive experience in the areas of refugee protection, assisting and protecting victims of trafficking in human beings, needs assessments, and protection trainings, and the design and implementation of protection policy and advocacy strategies. Before becoming an independent consultant in mid-2016, she worked with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) serving with it on all continents in conflict and post-conflict areas.

Since becoming independent, Reem has lent her expertise to UN organisations and large international non-governmental organisations and their programs at UN HQ in Geneva and New York, Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas.

Reem has an MA in International Human Rights Law (2003) from the University of Oxford and an MA in International Relations (1999) from the American University of Cairo.
