Employment and Peacebuilding-Building Bridges Amongst “Youth at Risk” in Lebanon
The project contributes to enhancing peace-building by means of entrepreneurship, youth empowerment via capacity-building in technical and soft skills, and self-employment. The project’s approach in coupling peace-building activities with livelihoods opportunities seeks to directly address this primary source of tension. Focusing on locations where tensions pertaining to local economic conditions have shown signs of leading to broader escalations, the project focuses on enhancing engagement of “youth at risk” through a range of livelihoods and social stability activities and, importantly, strengthening the linkages and complementarities between the two. The project enhances youth engagement through activities that:
- Promote social stability and conflict resolution
- Improve their employability (skills training, Youth entrepreneurship, and job placement initiatives).
Together these two sets of activities foster positive interactions between Lebanese and Syrian youth and create livelihood opportunities.
