Skoun Lebanese Addictions Center
Overview
Skoun aims to help people with addiction problems claim their lives by providing a nonjudgmental and caring environment of client centered treatment and counseling. We deliver the tools and information necessary to reduce the harm caused by drug use and we advocate for drug policy change, increased public awareness and education regarding addiction.
Skoun is a non-profit, Lebanese organization that was established as the first outpatient therapeutic facility in Lebanon that offers prevention and treatment to drug users. Established in 2001 and legally registered in 2003, Skoun’s activities have since primarily focused on the following areas:
- Treatment: Through its treatment services in both centers in Badaro and Jnah (within the premises of the Rafik Hariri University Hospital), Skoun offers care and support to over 550 individuals annually within a comprehensive individually tailored treatment model.
- Prevention: Skoun strives to make drug prevention and awareness an integrated part of education. Every year, our prevention and harm reduction programs reach out to over 15,000 young people in schools, universities and nightlife settings.
- Drug Policy: Skoun has pioneered the work on Drug Policy reform in Lebanon and is the leading advocate for the rights of people who use drugs.
