Palestine Groups in Sweden
Overview
The Palestine Groups in Sweden is a party-political and religiously unrelated solidarity organization formed in 1976 through the unification of local Palestinian groups. The organization currently has about 1,200 members and 17 local groups around Sweden. PGS also has about 500 monthly donors who regularly support the development projects that PGS conducts together with local partners in Lebanon, the West Bank and Gaza.
PGS is to promote the widest possible support for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and national independence, politically through public opinion, economically and humanitarian through the Palestinian Assembly. PGS clearly takes a stand for the Palestinian people's quest for national independence and the formation of a sovereign, viable Palestinian state on the West Bank and Gaza with East Jerusalem as its capital. This sees PGS as an indispensable part of creating peace in the Middle East. Without a fair solution to the Palestinian conflict, peace cannot be achieved.
