Starbucks Foundation
Overview
The Starbucks Foundation is the charitable arm of Starbucks that aims to strengthen communities around the world by supporting nonprofit organizations through grants, partnerships, and targeted programs. Established in 1997 as a U.S. 501(c)(3) organization, it focuses on creating positive social impact by enabling community resilience, expanding economic opportunity, and uplifting people affected by disaster and hardship. The Foundation provides various types of funding — including Origin Grants, Neighborhood Grants, and Global Community Impact Grants — to support causes such as youth empowerment, workforce readiness, women’s economic advancement, and disaster relief. It also collaborates with local partners, Starbucks employees, and licensees like Alshaya Group to deliver programs such as the EmpowerME initiative in the Middle East and North Africa, which equips underserved youth with skills and mentorship to help them succeed in work and life.
