GSEF – Global Forum for Social and Solidarity Economy
Overview
The Global Forum for Social and Solidarity Economy (GSEF) is an international organization established in 2013 in Seoul, South Korea. It brings together local governments and civil society networks from around the world to promote the principles of the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE). The SSE encompasses various forms of organizations, including social enterprises, cooperatives, foundations, mutual societies, and self-help groups, all of which prioritize people over profit and advocate for a collective, viable, and innovative economy. GSEF operates on the belief that systemic change begins at the local level through partnerships between civil society and the public and private sectors. Its members, present in 37 countries across five continents, are committed to fostering inclusive and sustainable local development that respects both human dignity and the environment.
