Andalusian Fund of Municipalities for International Solidarity (FAMSI)
Overview
The Andalusian Fund of Municipalities for International Solidarity (FAMSI) is a network of local governments and other entities born in 2000 to coordinate the interest and technical and financial resources for international cooperation for local human development. FAMSI's work is based on the conviction that it is necessary to work towards the achievement of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals contained in the 2030 Agenda that was approved in September 2015 at the United Nations General Assembly.
The development cooperation is an expression of the solidarity of the Andalusian society with the impoverished peoples. It is a social and political commitment at national, regional and local levels. Local development initiative with support from Famsi has been launched in countries such as Bolivia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Dominican, Haiti, Cuba, Morocco, Mauritania, Malawi, Mozambique or Sri Lanka, among others. Social Inclusion is part of the entity's work priorities and is present in its actions in development cooperation, in promoting development towards the interior of Andalusia, in its work with international networks of political influence and in the proposals supported by partners or by financing entities (Junta de Andalucía, Government of Spain, European Commission, United Nations and others).
