Arab Voluntary Union
Overview
The Arab Voluntary Union (AVU) is an international non-governmental and non-profit organization established in Bahrain in 2018 to promote and coordinate volunteer efforts across the Arab world. Comprising 17 leading Arab organizations, AVU serves as a unifying platform for volunteerism, supporting initiatives in areas such as health, education, economic empowerment, humanitarian aid, and cultural development. Its mission is to encourage Arab youth participation, support innovative volunteer initiatives, build volunteer capacities through training, and collaborate with official institutions to institutionalize volunteer work. The union organizes major programs such as the Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd International Foundation Insignia for Best Voluntary Work and the HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa Award for Voluntary Work, which recognize and honor outstanding volunteer contributions. By fostering a strong culture of volunteerism, AVU plays a crucial role in driving sustainable development and humanitarian efforts in Arab communities.
