Catalan Fund for Development Cooperation (FCCD)

Overview

The Fons Català de Cooperació al Desenvolupament (FCCD) is a Catalan public network of municipalities and local authorities in Spain that works to promote international development cooperation and solidarity. Established in 1986 and based in Barcelona, it brings together more than 300 member local governments that pool part of their budgets to support development and humanitarian initiatives worldwide. The FCCD’s main role is to finance and coordinate projects implemented by partner organizations such as NGOs, local civil society groups, and international agencies, rather than implementing projects directly itself. It supports a wide range of actions including poverty reduction, human rights, gender equality, emergency response, and sustainable development, aligning its work with global frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition to funding, it also provides technical assistance, monitors project implementation, and promotes awareness and education on global solidarity within Catalonia.
