Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Overview
The Republic of Estonia has been officially engaged in developing cooperation as part of its foreign policy sector since 1998 when, for the first time, money from the government's funds was allocated for developing cooperation. The general goal of Estonian development cooperation is to contribute to the eradication of world poverty and to attaining the Sustainable Development Goals. The objective of humanitarian aid provided by Estonia is to save lives, reduce suffering of people and provide necessities for decent life during and after natural and human-made catastrophes as well as provide aid in order to improve preparedness for responding to the abovementioned situations and preventing them. Focusing particularly on the most vulnerable population groups.
