German Foreign Office

Overview

The Auswärtiges Amt (German Federal Foreign Office) is Germany’s foreign ministry, responsible for shaping and implementing the country’s foreign policy, managing diplomatic relations, and supporting German citizens abroad. In the MENA region, it operates through embassies, consulates, and cultural institutions, playing a key role in political dialogue, crisis management, humanitarian assistance, and development cooperation. The ministry works closely with partners such as the United Nations, the European Union, and local governments, as well as German institutions like GIZ, KfW Development Bank, the Goethe-Institut, DAAD, and political foundations. Through these partnerships, the Auswärtiges Amt supports initiatives in areas such as peacebuilding, education, cultural exchange, governance, and humanitarian aid, aiming to promote stability, cooperation, and mutual understanding between Germany and MENA countries.
