Overview
Impact Fund Denmark, formerly known as IFU (Investment Fund for Developing Countries), is Denmark’s development finance institution, established in 1967 and headquartered in Copenhagen. It provides risk capital—through equity, loans, guarantees, venture capital, and public infrastructure finance—to private-sector companies in developing and emerging-market countries, focusing on sectors such as green energy and infrastructure, financial services, sustainable food systems, and healthcare.
With over five decades of experience, the fund has co-invested in more than 1,300 companies across over 100 countries, managing capital commitments of around EUR 31 billion (with its own contribution of roughly EUR 3.6 billion). Impact Fund Denmark currently oversees about DKK 18.1 billion in capital, with an active portfolio encompassing approximately 183 companies, contributing to the deployment of 2,800 MW in renewable energy capacity and supporting around 388,000 direct jobs in over 45 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and parts of Europe.
