Istanbul Development Agency (ISTKA)
Overview
The Istanbul Development Agency (ISTKA) was established by the Council of Ministers' decision dated 10.11.2008 and numbered 2008/14306, based on Law No. 5449, with the aim of "accelerating and ensuring the sustainability of regional development in line with the principles and policies foreseen in national development plans and programs, and reducing inter-regional and intra-regional development disparities by improving cooperation between the public sector, private sector and civil society organizations, ensuring the efficient and effective use of resources and mobilizing local potential." ISTKA, whose Secretary General was appointed in August 2009, became actively operational in December 2009 with the employment of expert and support staff.
