Shell Foundation

Overview

The Shell Foundation is a UK‑registered independent charity established by the Shell Group to promote sustainable development by supporting innovative enterprises that tackle social and environmental challenges. Its primary focus is on scaling clean energy solutions, improving livelihoods, and reducing carbon emissions, particularly in Africa and Asia. The foundation partners with social enterprises, NGOs, and private sector actors to create market-based solutions that benefit underserved communities, such as smallholder farmers and micro-entrepreneurs. Through funding, strategic guidance, and capacity-building, Shell Foundation seeks to accelerate ventures that provide affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy, while fostering economic opportunities and social impact. While its work is largely concentrated in Africa and Asia, broader Shell corporate programs may operate in other regions, including the Middle East and North Africa.
