The Global Muslim Philanthropy Fund for Children (GMPFC)
Overview
The Global Muslim Philanthropy Fund for Children (GMPFC) is the first fund focused on Muslim giving to be launched by a United Nations organization, UNICEF, together with a Multilateral Development Bank (MDB), The Islamic Development Bank. The fund will enable multiple forms of Muslim philanthropy, including obligatory giving such as Zakat and voluntary giving such as Sadaqah donations and Waqf endowments, to contribute to emergency response and development programs.
The Fund has an initial capital of $250 million and may generate up to $600 million in total financing. It supports children in emergencies; education; health; water, sanitation & hygiene; nutrition; and youth empowerment.
