Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi)

Overview

The Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi) is a collaborative partnership among 14 governments, eight multilateral development banks (MDBs), and other public and private sector stakeholders, hosted by the World Bank Group. It seeks to address financial and non-financial constraints faced by women-owned/led small and medium enterprises in developing countries.

We-Fi mobilizes capital for intermediaries that serve women entrepreneurs, focusing on financial instrument mobilization, capacity building, network expansion, market access, and policy reform. We-Fi also sponsors research to generate insights on female entrepreneurship and implements initiatives like the WE Finance Code to increase funding for women-led businesses globally.
