Ahmed Abdelhakim Hachelaf
About
I am a senior education and capacity building specialist with over 15 years’ experience in nonprofit management, education design, curriculum development, education in emergencies, adult and young learning, e-learning, research, and evaluation in multicultural settings. Most recently, I have worked as an Education Portfolio Manager and prior to that as a Senior Peace and Conflict Education Specialist at Generations For Peace, where I conduct research, and focus on the creation of training processes and systems through curriculum development and instructional design, all in service of the organization’s peacebuilding mission.
With a master’s degree from Syracuse University in public administration, and a PhD from the University of Algiers II focusing on leadership of International NGOs and civic education and three other Certificates of Advanced Study in neighboring fields, I combine my activist background and extensive multicultural experiences leading me to be selected as Leaders for Democracy Fellow (LDF) and subsequently, and subsequently as a Caux scholar in Switzerland and a delegate of Algeria in UNAOC- NY. I co-authored a book with fellow leaders in the MENA region: Revolution by Love and edited Equality & Justice: An Engaged Generation, A Troubled World.
Previously, I was an Assistant Professor at Higher Normal School at Laghouat and University of Algiers II, and a Resident Research Fellow at the Moynihan Institute at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University. I have also worked as a project manager for several social enterprises and non-governmental organizations’ (NGOs) initiatives in the Middle East and North Africa region, and US-based consulting firms including The Obama Foundation, Dexis, IIIT, and Five Oaks. The main objective of the projects I led was widening access to opportunities for youth and marginalized segments of society. Along with colleagues from University of Virginia, I was the co-founder of The Twiza Project, a transnational student dialogue on human rights, civic education, justice and activism and the Mouakhat Peer-mentorship program. In 2021, I co-created Transformation: A Journal of Advocacy, Research and Peacebuilding, to give voice to the often unheard voices in peacebuilding.
