About
Throughout my career with IOM, I have provided strategic leadership in labour mobility and regular pathways, leading thematic units and cross‑regional planning processes to ensure coherence between Headquarters guidance, regional strategies, and Country Office programming. I have represented IOM in high‑level fora with governments, UN partners, development banks, regional bodies, and private sector networks, consistently positioning the Organization as a thought leader on labour mobility. Most recently, I led the design of IOM’s first blended finance mechanism within the labour mobility portfolio, engaging EU and US investor networks, UNIDO, the GCC Executive Bureau, and Team Europe Initiatives, translating strategic vision into scalable, cross‑sector solutions.
I bring extensive technical expertise in labour mobility, migrant protection, skills mobility partnerships (SMPs), and complementary pathways. I have delivered technical assistance to Country Offices across the MENA region and led thematic reviews and project assessments across multiple portfolios, ensuring quality, coherence, and alignment with IOM institutional frameworks. As a certified trainer on Common Country Analysis (CCA) and UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Frameworks (UNSDCFs), I have supported UN Country Teams in Egypt, Libya, Algeria, the UAE, and KSA to mainstream migration into national and UN planning processes.
I have designed and supported several SMPs, including a regional green skills partnership linking MENA, the EU, and GCC markets; a health workforce SMP with WHO EMRO; and a hospitality sector SMP with the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance and the GCC Executive Bureau targeting climate‑affected populations. These initiatives demonstrate my ability to anticipate labour market trends, broker innovative partnerships, and operationalize cross‑border mobility schemes with strong protection and development outcomes.
My work has required sustained partnership building, diplomacy, and resource mobilization. I maintain strong relationships with donors, UN agencies, regional bodies, academic institutions, and private sector actors, and have mobilized resources for complex, multi‑country initiatives. I have contributed to regional and global policy dialogue on skills‑based labour mobility, decent work, skills recognition, diaspora engagement, Business and Human Rights, and labour migration reform.
Since joining IOM in 1997 in Sarajevo, BiH, and progressing through roles in South‑East Europe, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and later as Regional Thematic Specialist in MENA, I have developed a deep understanding of the project cycle, donor environments, and risk management requirements. My leadership style is grounded in empowerment, transparency, courage, and respect, and I consistently uphold the highest standards of professionalism, diversity, ethics, and accountability.
