Dr.-Ing. Noama Shareef
About
Dr.-Ing. Noama Shareef holds a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Germany and brings over 20 years of international experience in water and wastewater management, sustainability, and environmental engineering. Her expertise spans a wide range of disciplines, including the design and operation of water and wastewater treatment systems, commissioning and performance evaluation of municipal and industrial plants, and advanced process engineering with a particular focus on biofilm-based treatment technologies. She has extensive knowledge of biological, physical, and chemical treatment processes, sludge management and reuse strategies, water reuse applications, and water quality monitoring and assessment. Dr. Shareef has significant experience in European Union Water Policy, contributing to policy development, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement. She has been actively involved in high-level policy communication and has contributed to the preparation of EU water and wastewater position papers for the European Parliament in Brussels. In her role as a Water Policy Officer, she coordinated and contributed to several European projects, including DIGIWATER, Water4All, and Water Position EU, with a focus on integrated water resources management and the water–energy nexus. She also supported the EU Scientific and Technical Task Force on water policy.
In academia, Dr. Shareef has lectured at the University of Rostock (Germany), Al-Balqa Applied University (Jordan), and Damascus &Tishreen Universities in (Syria), contributing to education and research in water and environmental engineering. In addition to her technical expertise, she is an Arbitration Consultant in international commercial arbitration and a certified professional trainer (Training of Trainers) in water, energy, and environmental topics, with a strong focus on the Water–Energy–Food Security Nexus. Currently, Dr. Shareef is affiliated with Brentwood Europe (Germany), where she is engaged in water engineering, strategic development, marketing, and business planning, particularly in the field of advanced wastewater treatment technologies.
