Dr. Moosa Elayah
About
I have a background in International Development, Peace and Conflict Studies, with broad experience at the interface between academic and practical research. I conducted my Ph.D. studies at Leiden University, the Netherlands (2013). I used a methodological approach to analyze the European Union’s development and peacebuilding policies, in particular Dutch aid policies. I focused on Yemen but also looked at many examples of other conflicting countries. Since my PhD work, I shifted my research focus to the role of donors in promoting NGOs for peacebuilding and to Legitimate State-building within the Arab Spring countries. As a conflict transformation and peacebuilding specialist with over 12 years of teaching, programming, analysis and research experience in the areas of development, conflict, peace and security; I have an array of skills illustrative of my ability to deliver lectures and to conduct research based on practical examples from conflict and post-conflict contexts.
