Dr. Nicolas Abdo

Nicolas Abdo is a Management, Finance, Corporate Governance, and Research specialist and expert in the International NGOs world. Since 2012, he has been engaging with various International NGOs operating locally in Lebanon and in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in response to the (1) Syrian crisis, (2) the financial crisis in Lebanon, and (3) the Beirut Port Explosion. Currently, Nicolas is a part-time lecturer of accounting and marketing management at the University of Balamand (UOB) and the American University of Science and Technology (AUST). He has been implementing short to medium-term consulting projects with International Organizations, for example:

At the same time, Nicolas has been lecturing a combination of business management, accounting, finance, and research units at under and post graduate levels with multiple universities in Lebanon. Also, he has worked for International Oil Drilling and Construction companies on FIFO and residential-based in remote locations in the MENA region, managing all aspects of the support functions of the projects.

In 2023, Nicolas completed his PhD at the University of Newcastle, Australia (UON), majoring in Accounting and Finance, sub-majoring in corporate governance. The thesis looks at the role of employees of Multinational Enterprises (MNEs) in translating corporate governance mechanisms to everyday decision-making processes. He adopted a qualitative research approach which is very relevant in topic and methodology to the requirements of this project. Previously, in 2010, he obtained a Master's degree in Accounting from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), and in 2000, a double degree in business administration from the Lebanese University in Beirut. In 2024, Nicolas has completed his Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40122 at TAFE NSW, a training qualification that is a prerequisite for planning, delivering, and assessing training programs in the workplace environment.

Nicolas has dual citizenship, Lebanese/Australian, with native bilingual skills in English and Arabic, and he currently resides in Lebanon.
